SaskPower & SaskEnergy today jointly launched energycheck, a self-serve, interactive energy audit available on the Internet at www.saskpower.com or www.saskenergy.com.

energycheck is designed to help Saskatchewan people pinpoint where they can conserve energy in their home and save money on their power and natural gas bills.

"We know Saskatchewan people are very interested in learning how they can reduce their home energy use and costs," Crown Investment Corporation Minister Maynard Sonntag said. "Together, SaskPower and SaskEnergy have designed a no-cost, easily accessible tool to help people understand and reduce their current home energy use. With cooler weather fast approaching, we felt it was timely to ensure an on-line energy audit was introduced now.

"It only takes a few minutes to answer a series of questions about the appliances they use, their heating and cooling systems, and other items that use electricity and natural gas in their home. What they get in return are audit results that itemize the average annual costs of the major energy users in their home along with an estimate of the potential savings they can realize by updating their appliances or undertaking renovations."

Anyone can access energycheck's analysis and tips through an Internet connection, and if not available in their home, they can access it through one of the 318 public libraries in the province.

Customers of SaskPower and SaskEnergy can enter their 16 digit account number to access a special feature that will show them their previous year's monthly electrical and natural gas consumption, a percentage breakdown of where they use energy and a complete list of tips for saving energy in their home.
