New boards of directors have been appointed for Saskatchewan's commercial Crown corporations, effective January 1, 2001.

They replace all current appointments, which expire December 31st. The new and reappointed board members will serve terms of either one or three years.

The appointments apply to SaskPower, SaskTel, SaskEnergy, Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI), Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC), Sask Water and Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation (SOCO).

"Our Crown corporations are dealing with increasingly complex business decisions and they need the leadership of these highly qualified people who have agreed to serve on their boards" Crown Investments Corporation Minister John Nilson said. "We are confident the new and reappointed members of these boards have the combined skills, experience and expertise that will strengthen our Crown corporations."
